At an appointed time, I went to the Immigration Office yesterday. I went upstairs and directly into the back room, where KITAS are cancelled and nationality documents are issued. "Later, two o'clock", Bu D said, "I'm still typing the documents". So I sat at the waiting room, spending my time drawing in my sketchbook until Bu D appeared and called me. "Please follow me to Bu I's room". This is where I went first to apply for our kids' KITAS cancellation.
I was asked to check two documents for each child: one is a piece of A4-sized paper, which has to be submitted at the airport the first time the child goes abroad; another one is a square piece of paper that has to be kept until the child reach 18 years of age, when s/he has to choose her/his nationality. All names, status and birthdates are correct and I could go without any hassle.
Now I just have to go to the Civil Office and the Police to report the status of our children: that they are also Indonesians and don't have to renew any KITAS anymore. Oh, and also to that blasted Department of Justice and Human Rights agan, to acquire a correct documentation for Lindri. No celebration until all these are done...
